Swing Bed Program

To serve the needs of smaller communities, Medicare has established coverage for "Swing Bed" programs. A Swing Bed is the term used to describe a hospital room that can transition from an inpatient acute care status to a skilled care status. Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center is proud to offer a healthy environment where patients can recover with the guidance and help of their physicians and clinical and rehab teams.
Eligibility to participate in the program is for those whose needs cannot be met at home but whose condition no longer warrants an acute hospital stay. If you have had surgery or are being treated for a medical condition along the Front Range or elsewhere, you can return to your hometown to recover closer to home with the people you trust.
Here are a few examples of who could benefit from Swing Bed Rehab:
- Those needing care after orthopedic surgery, such as joint replacement or fractures
- Patients needing to continue or complete IV Therapy
- Patients recovering from an accident, injury, or illness
- Post-surgical patients
- Wound Care patients
The goal is to work with patients who demonstrate high rehabilitation potential. Our Swing Beds are ideal for those who require additional treatment before being discharged safely home. Coverage varies among insurance companies; we will work on your behalf to determine the coverage and availability.
During our patients' stay, they have access to the following amenities:
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
- Cable TV
- Private Rooms
- Meals prepared In-House
- Access to a Beautiful Courtyard with views of the Spanish Peaks
